Innovative Curriculum Opportunities for ELSSA Members

We provide our Alliance members with the tools they need to offer innovative curricula to families at their centers. We believe in enhancing both body and mind through diverse educational opportunities. From nutritional education to extending learning beyond the classroom, our curriculum is designed to raise the overall quality of education at your center. ELSSA equips members to create outdoor gardens that produce fruits and vegetables for use in CHEF lessons and supports educators in integrating age-appropriate, highly active arts into the classroom in partnership with the Tobin Center. We understand that funding these programs can be challenging, and we’re here to help! We will work with you to provide the necessary resources to implement these programs at your center.

Garden to Table (CHEF)

In partnership with Culinary Health Education for Families (CHEF), Pre-K 4 SA offers ELSSA providers the opportunity to participate in the Garden to Table curricular innovation. This two-year program engages children in growing and preparing their own food to learn firsthand about healthy eating. Through hands-on gardening, culinary, and nutrition lessons, children will make age-appropriate recipes, garden, learn concepts of sustainability, life cycles, and environmental science.

 Outdoor Learning

Incorporating regular outdoor learning opportunities in early childhood education can significantly contribute to the overall development and well-being of children, preparing them for a healthier, happier, and more balanced life. ELSSA professional learning specialists support you in making outdoor time an extension of the classroom.

Our learning through play philosophy will have children engaging in holistic development, addressing their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs all at once. Their creativity and imagination will be their guide as they design, create, and problem-solve using a variety of recycled and natural materials. We’ll help you turn your outdoor learning space into an awesome place for your children to explore and learn.

Generation Next Presents: The Early Arts Program

The Early Arts Program allows our youngest audience members to experience 10-minute performances in the early childhood classroom that are highly active and age-appropriate. This program is designed to allow Pre-Kinder students to experience music, dance, theatre, puppetry or storytelling performances before they enter Kindergarten. Four different Tobin Center Artists will visit your campus four times during the school year, performing in all the early childhood classrooms. Two visits in the fall anytime in Mid-September through December and two visits in the spring anytime in January through May. These performances allow students to experience an art form that they may have never seen before. The goal with the Early Arts Program is to captivate our youngest audiences so they may be interested in pursuing the arts.
